Etiquette

The following guidelines are here to help you understand what it means to be a member of Digital Beat. This is not a complete list of rules, just a good set of suggestions for long-term happiness. Don't forget that your use of ToneHighway is subject to these guidelines and our Terms of Service.

Please do

  • Be nice. We're a community of many types of people who all have the right to feel comfortable and who may not think what you think, believe what you believe, or see what you see. So, be polite and respectful in your interactions with other members.
  • Heart songs because you enjoy them.
  • Comment on songs! Artistry can be a lonely road, and leaving a friendly note or piece of constructive criticism goes a long way.
  • Pick your username and avatar wisely. Offensive usernames and obscene, pornographic or seizure-inducing avatars will not be tolerated.
  • Let us know if you've found an exploit ASAP (anything that creates an unfair advantage). Exploits ultimately hurt the community, but, with your help, we can ensure ToneHighway stays legit and fun for everyone.
  • Report any spam you find.
  • Respect the Staff. We're a couple of guys in an apartment and work hard to answer everyone's questions, so please be cool.

Please don't

  • Spam. There's a great site for writing the same message over and over, "thanks for the add," and chain letters. It's called MySpace.
  • Upload music you don't have the right to distribute.
  • Create multiple listener accounts.
  • Heart or revive music you've uploaded.
  • Heart music you don't actually like. Songs should receive hearts for being artistic, unique, and appealing, not because someone bugs you into wasting a heart. You shouldn't let your hard-earned hearts go to waste!
  • Complain why your song isn't on the homepage. It's cool that you're passionate - it's the defining characteristic of an artist - but this attitude makes you look insecure and/or jealous. Take a deep breath and let your work speak for itself.
  • Type in ALL CAPS.
  • Post thoughtless comments. Leave the "WOW" or "this sucks" comments on YouTube, please.
  • Harass artists when they remove a song. Seriously, now.
  • Create or use third-party scripts that abuse the site. Please remember that music discovery is about open-mindedness and not Greasemonkey scripts.
  • Upload offensive images.
